My little son has bashed my laptop and has broken the part where you plug in the power cord to the laptop.I have opened up the laptop and the part that the connector fits onto has completely snapped off and was rattling around inside.Is this repairable?

Yes, if you solder it back on it should be okay. Just make sure that it is the only damage done, and that the circuit board hasn't been also damaged.
