Technically, yes. However, some software needs on-line activation, which may be able to detect multiple installations.

Legally, probably not. Check the licence agreement.
That is an intriguing question, am sure Markrae is right and morning will bring more views too, will watch and wait.
Generally speaking, when you bought Software on line , you will get the activation Number. It means that you can use this software only by filling the number anywhere at anytime. You just install this software.
> when you buy software on line

Firstly, the OP did not mention buying software on line...

> It means that you can use this software only by filling the number anywhere at anytime.

There are plenty of applications which will not allow you to do this more than once...

> You just install this software.

And then you try to register / activate it a second time...
As Mark says, it depends on your licence agreement.
Depends what it is - e.g. our Norton licence can be used on 3 computers as long as we own then, it says so in the T&Cs
The thing you have to realise is you do not buy software, you by a licence to use that software.

You buy one license, you can use it on one computer, 3 licenses you can use it on 3 computers and so on......

So, to repeat what Mark and SB said...... Check your license terms.
