using google to find a place

is there a good, easy free site where I can type in a post code and get a map up on the screen - so far all I've come up with are those who want to sell me a map. thanks

google maps has always been good for me

Go to google.co.uk

Search on the post code

Select "Maps" at the top

This also works for city names and so on.

if you just put a post code into google the first option is a map for that area...so I am confused because the title to this question is "using google to find a place"

chuckfickens - thanks, I did that but got all sorts of funny things, no matter, have sorted it now - I must have been having a senior moment.
