That cable will not work - VGA to HDMI is impossible - the cables only exist because some obscure equipment (DVD recorders I think) have an HDMI connector on which they output VGA type (analogue) signals.

DVI to HDMI will work though, so if you have a DVI output on the computer you can connect using that and the correct cable. (note DVI doesn't include sound (other than on some ATI cards)
