It is possible to change the amount of disk the PC is using as if it were memory, but my first question would be, what are you running that is taking up so much ? Presumably it was working ok previously.
Almost certainly you are getting the message because you've not got enough real memory in your computer.

Right click on my computer and select properties and it will tell you how much RAM you have, if it's below 512MB then you really need to add more memory.

if you run the scanner on the link below it will advice you of what sort of memory you will require

Thanks.

Probably need to add some memory, but just looked at the programmes on my computer and noticed one titled HP Customer Participation Program 7.0 (I have a HP Printer) it was 143.00 MB!!

I hardly ever use the printer so I have deleted that one for starters.
143 MB is the size on disk - it is not related to how much (virtual) memory is used - if you don't use it, it's taking up disk space, but not memory.
Programs have a size on disk, and then they use memory when you actually use them - the amount used can vary depending on what you do - e.g. Word has a size on disk, and then when you load it, it takes up memory - the bigger and more complex the document you edit, the more memory it uses.
Deleting programs will not help your problem - it will free up disk space, but do nothing to free up memory.
