on start up my laptop goes through some kind of system check, i notice that it finds 8 "hidden" files, what are these, can they be found and more importantly can i remove them if they are of an unsavory nature.
there is no clue as to name or function, my computer knowledge is limited to say the least, so finding anymore information on them is impossible for me im afraid.
Not sure which operating system you're using but for example if it's XP
Start > run and type c: and return. Now select tools - folder options and select the folder options tab - in advanced settings select "show hidden files and folders"
Now you'll see hidden files as slightly greyed out.
For example go to "documents and settings" and select your account name in there you'll see things like local settings greyed out.
Microsoft use hidden files quite a lot for system files to discourage people from messing with them and screwing up their system.
You can "hide" a file by right clicking on it and selecting properties and marking it as hidden.
Don't mess with hidden files unless you know what you're doing
