Hotmail Contacts Hijacked

My Hotmail account seems to be sending out a SPAM message to my contacts. Ihave changed my password and alerted Hotmail to this. Will this be enough to stop it?

Recently internet explorer has stopped working also. The screen goes white after a little while and then it freezes. Do you think the two could be connected? My MacAfee software doesn't seem to think there is a virus.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
