Problems with skype and computer crashing, Solveable?

I have installed skype on my PC, now it won't restart unless you start throuh the boot mode. Is it skype that is doing this and should I try and reinstall or dump it?
Also skype, doesn't work properly after a few seconds, it dumps the call. i can hear the other person, they can intermittently hear me , the robot test, says everythin is ok. Is this computer problems or broadband?
Any ideas?

It is USUALLY a problem with the internet connection.
