I use 200w tungsten bulbs,BC, in table lamps. Apart from a relatively massive energy-saving bulb, are there any ,say, quartz halogen bulbs with the the same light output and a bayonet cap fitting? If not has anyone got any suggested alternatives?

LED bulbs are here now and save on power
but at the moment they are very expensive and as yet only go up to the equivalent of 100 watts
around 25 per bulb but light up instantly and don't fade and last around 20 years average use.
maker-EvoLux
p.s. I'm not talking about the already low energy useless type lights
Independent reviews of EvoLux seem somewhat less than complimentary, even when comparing them to CFLs:

btw after the smoking ban send all bar / pub smokers outside there's now hundreds of thousands of heavy usage electric and gas heaters in use
makes me smile, what a **** up this carbon issue is
Agree with above100%. Soon we'll be told WHEN to turn on the light - and then what.....?
