Last week I received an email from a friend and as it was something that would have made my daughter laugh decided to forward it to her. Each time I trid it a message appeared stating "There was a problem sending this email please try again later"
In all I tried eight times with the same message so I gave up. My daughter received the email eight times containing the picture but no funny joke at the bottom of it.
Now she tells me she cant use her laptop as it has some virus or other. She says there is the possibility it cant be mended and she cant even restore back to manufacturers specs. So what can she do if anything? PLEASE TELL ME I DONT NEED TO BUY HER ANOTHER ONE!!!!!!!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Without knowing more details of your daughters problem it's hard to say what can be done . However I've never heard of a computer having to be scraped because of a virus .

If you can get more info & post it you might get a better response .

What has she done that makes her think she has a virus ? What security she has ? Anti-virus , anti - spyware .?
Has she run scans ? If so what did they find?
Any messages she has had on the laptop - error messages etc .

What is your E-mail client ? Is it outlook or what else?
It might be problem with outlook settings regarding sending mails.
And second thing is that, It seems virus infection on your computer.
You need to scan your computer with good antivirus software.
You can use AVG antivirus. It is a free antivirus, you can download it here:

Perhaps you have also learned a lesson about sending round emails that may contain a virus or spyware.

Any email that has an attachment could contain a virus or spyware so be wary of jokes in emails and so on.

Some Anti virus products (like AVG or Avast) do scan emails to tell you if you have a virus or spyware in the email.

As a matter of interest, do you run any security software on your laptop?
"She says there is the possibility it cant be mended and she cant even restore back to manufacturers specs. "

There area only two kind of people who would say that about malware:

1) Computer "experts" who don't know what they are doing
2) Daughters who want someone to buy them a new computer.

Thank you to everyone who answered my question. We both have the free version of AVG, but she now says she was midway between changing to another supplier!!!!!!!
I am with TalkTalk, but am not sure who she is with.
I have certainly learned the lesson regarding email attachments although thought AVG scanned them for me and yes it did occur to me that a new laptop seems a nice thought. I also thought it was a bit weird that nothing could be done about it. Thank you all once again for your comments.
