email download

cant download any mail getting access to the net ok but cant get in to outlook express. Computer ok till Friday, now have 47 messages to open, when computer is shut down and restarted it will open outlook and show mail messages waiting but as soon as I attempt to receive them it clicks off after a minute and when I try to open again it wont even open.
I have tried system restore but it made no difference. No password setup involved on this computer, any answers please

open the outlook . click the tools >account settings

check the port numbers .
try to test the account settings
log in into the log in user name and password
download the mails .

You need to try to optimize your outlook express.
