Is there an email service I can sign up to that will notify you in real-time of the arrival of emails? Something that sits on the task bar would be ideal. I'm looking for something along the lines of what you see in american movies where a flying envelope appears on the screen along with a sound effect.

On the other hand, is there software that will do the job? What about some sort of add-on for Firefox?

Thanks

Don't have to go to that bother.

Have your email program on all the time but minimised. Set it to play a sound when mail arrives (I think it is by default) and adjust your email settings to check for mail say every five minutes or so. Every minute if you like, tho to me that is a bit silly.

When a mail comes, it'll make a noise (and flash in the task bar I think) and you just open it up.
