PC input to TV receiver

I have a Toshiba TV receiver which I use purely as a PC monitor.
The idea is that when I first switch it on its default mode is TV. Then I press a button on the remote control called PC INPUT whereupon the PC screen appears.

Recently it has developed a fault whereby it doesn't switch from TV to PC unless I switch the TV off and on anything up to 10 or 12 times.
The makers can't help much so far.
Anyone any ideas, please?

We want to listen to the radio on a lap top without ear phones.
