Hi
I have set up few templates in Microsoft Word that print the current date on them which I find is very useful. However if I need to access the letters I have filed away the current date appears.

My question is: is there a way that I can make the date stay the same date it was when I first wrote the letters.

All help appreciated

Yes, you can - don't click on the automatic date option (using Insert, Date & Time) but just type in the date in normal text.

I would put the location and date/time created in a footer, in a smaller font to the main body of text.
or you could use the create date fieldcode which will insert the create date (mmmm).
How does one do that AC ? Sounds useful !
in 2003 insert | field | <select>create date
format as required

in 2007 - well it's in there somewhere - I'm still trying to work out how to open a file ;o?
