Half of my friend's computer has defaulted to German, though it has never been set up in German and she knows no German. Attempts to change it back to English have failed. Any ideas?

Tried all the usual things, control panel, properties, setting the language. Nothing works.
Have you been into ........control panel......regional & language......................to see which languages are installed?
When you say half of the computer, what in particular is now German?

presumably it's the half nearest poland
(Is there a wall down the middle?)

which half ISN't german?
(the one with a sense of humour?)

that's it .... two serious questions

It's the toolbar on hotmail that I noticed particularly, but half the icons on the desktop, strangely not all. They say the problem started when they added, then removed a programme for making business cards, before that it had all been in English. Unfortunately they live about 30 miles away, so I can just go and look.
