I used to be able to restore my pc to any date I wanted but this has now changed - I don't know why. I can only restore to the last couple of months when my pc has been updated. This means I have lost some info I wanted to restore. Is there any way of restoring the system to an earlier date please?

Nope. There is a set limit to the storage available for the recovery data, when you hit the limit, as more restore points are added, older ones are dropped.
Your system restore is limited to the amount of space it uses, so when your computer is fairly new, the restore points will go back to when you first had it.

As more and more system points are created, more and more space is used -it is not unusual for system restore to take 10gb of hard drive space.

When it fills up, it deletes older restore points.

However, system restore should not delete nor restore files if that is what you are trying to do. It restores things like the computer registry, not files you have created.

What are you trying to do?

I'm trying to restore a couple of programs I deleted in error.

Thanks for your help. I am a novice when it comes to computing and being stuck at home with a broken leg would like to learn more. Are there any websites you could recommend for this?
Computer Active is an excellent fortnightly magazine for all computer users, and isn't full of techno babble.

The programs you uninstalled - where did you get them from originally? If you have the disks, you can reinstall them; if they were free on the internet, you can download them again.
