When turning off my computer it has started to run a thing called SPRTCMD.COM before closing down. This seems to have appeared from nowhere. Does anyone have any idea what it is and how to get rid of it if it is not necessary.

I have found references to SPRTCMD.EXE on the internet but not COM.

Seems the EXE program is used by Dell (and other companies) for support.

Is your PC a Dell?

Have you needed to contact computer support recently ?

Thanks vehelpfulguy. Yes I do have a Dell and yes I have contacted their help site. I guess that it is a bit of theirs. No idea how to get rid of it though. I will ask Dell and see what they say.
Hi PHorwood - just wondered if you got any joy from Dell support - I seem to have the same problem as you.

I have no idea what happened but it went away on it's own. Sorry I can't help you. I didn't call Dell again, but I do find them really helpful. I called them about a printer problem, a Dell printer, but bought from BT a couple of years ago. They sent me the very latest model with a box of ink. They are definitely worth a try if you have a problem.
