I have recently got a laptop with vista and I need to design a poster for advertising. I don't seem to have word art or powerpoint with vista. Does anyone know what program I could use to do a similar job?

You could try http://www.openoffice.org/product/ which is free & has similar programs to Powerpoint & Word
The company Serif give away older releases of their software (in the hope that you buy the latest versions).

They do a desktop publishing package called PagePlus which you can get from here

http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/

You can download other free software from that site as well.
btw Powerpoint is part of Microsoft Office and it has never been included as part of Vista, or any other version of Windows.

To get Powerpoint and other parts of Office (Word, Excel etc) you have to buy Microsoft Office.

Powerpoint is actually for designing presentations, but Miscorosft do have a product called Publisher for designing adverts etc (but of course you have to buy that as well).

Go for the Serif products I mentioned in my last append.
