I have a pc running Windows XP Home edition.

My ISP is Virgin Media and have PC Guard installed on my system.

I keep getting a critical error message - visit a website to get a fix. I know it's a scam as I've seen it before on other pc's but I PC Guard doesn't seem to be able to stop it.

I'm trying to download Ad-Aware but it won't work. I click th download now icon and the internet windows goes blank - then I get the 'Thank you for downloading message' but it hasn't worked and ad-aware is not downloaded.

I've tried it half a dozen times - am geting no message from my firewall system to say a programme is requesting access and have tried holding down ctrl whilst clicking in case the thing uses a pop up system for download but no good.

Anyone any ideas?

When you have downloaded them,. try booting in safe mode and running those programmes.

It is a lot more effective way to use them.
