Email attachments

Twice recently when someone has sent me an attachment to an email I have opened it and along the bottom there are a row of icons. If I press them then I get a small image in the centre of the screen. Some are just logos for sites, but there are some photos, which to say the least are not my sort of thing! Then there are some sites that I have recently visited, but I don't know where these are coming from and how they get there. Any ideas?
