I recently upgraded to Vista Home Premium and a new computer but am no longer able to open MP3 files, whether they are music or video. WMV's are ok however.
The window says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" even though it is a link to a vid or sound file.
Anyone have any ideas OTHER than installing firefox?
Thanks

do you have quicktime/the quicktime plug in
Question Author
Yes I do, same as I do on the old computer.
Try this method that I managed to find on a tech forum site:-
Make sure you are logged on as administrator of your Vista machine otherwise you won't be able to do it!

Click Start and go to Default Programs

Then, select Set Program Access and Computer Default

Click Continue

Then choose a configuration - select Custom (click the double arrow beside Custom).

Scroll down the list and under 'choose a default media player', select Windows Media Player.

Then click OK.

Worked for me so should be OK. Hope so!
