I need to buy 1stick of DDR2- 533 memory for a Dell PC. On the Dell website they have it for 30 . Seems a bit pricey to me , can I get the same elsewhere cheaper or do I have to buy Dell equipment only?

You have said one stick but you haven't mentioned the size - 2gb? 1gb?

Use this scanner and see what happens:

It's 256mb Ethel as there is already 1 stick of 256 in there. I guess I could replace it with 1 512mb if neccesary, it's just that I've heard you can only use Dell products in Dell machines
Have you tried that scan?

Hi again Ethel , sorry but I am away at college at the minute . it's a friends computer I was talking about . I know a bit but far from expert just the lack of memory was making things a tad slow. Not ture what else the scan would show but I have an Everest system report with all the details. Not sure what else you need to know. Sorry to be vague
If he does that scan on his computer, it will show exactly what Crucial recommend for top performance and how much they charge for the memory.

It may be cheaper - but of course it needs to be done on his pc
