I have managed to replace a 'hit counter' on my website, but cannot get the number to start at say 6,000. I have inserted "restart numbering at 6000" but it still always begins with number 1. Has anyone got any ideas?

Open the live/remote site in FP, then the _private folder and select the thepagename.htm.cnt file to
open in Text Editor (Notepad), then change the number, do not change the total number of digits.
