Digital Photos

I have just transferred some pictures from a web site to My Pictures.However,when I looked at My Pictures they are there,but not as photos,just the icons which I have to click to open the pictures.Is there any way I can change them so they can feature in my Screensaver slide show.
Have to admit I am not very computer literate so would need words of one syllable to explain !!

Where you see them as icons check to see if you have View menu at the top of the screen, from there select Filmstrip.
