I cant think of a way you can save it direct. However, you can do a screen print, paste it into paint then trim it to size.
Will this work?

Open the photo in your paint program - hidden away in start - all programs - accessories (assuming windows XP)

Then click 'save as' and scroll the 'save as type' box and choose 'jpeg'.
Ethel, I think the question is: if the picture is embedded in a Word document, how can you open it in your Paint program?

Got it sorted - type what I needed into Google eventually - many thanks.
woodchopper, perhaps you'd like to share the answer with the rest of us? I, for one, would be interested to know...
Rojash - right click and 'save'?
Ethel, people are always sending me articles for web sites, written in Word, and with embedded pictures. The right-click menu doesn't offer a save option. I always end up asking them to send the pictures separately.

Well that 's just the same as I said. Copy it into paint and do it that way.
Thanks woodchopper, and yes, squarebear, you were right all along, I just wondered if there was a better way!
