Have I got myself in a mess !!!
Trying to clean-up & speed-up my PC I have stupidly erased at least 10 Registry files. One file in particular is HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\Software\JavaSoft\JavaRuntimeEnvironment\1.6.0_02...This is used in order to carrt out my internet banking abroad....How do I regain all these lost file??? I expect ACtheTroll will know..I hope so.
Thanks..Terry

If you've lost references to Java, there's a good chance that re-installing Java will re-create them:

PS: System Restore might also work.

Tried that Chris but on hitting the download button I get a message stating Java has encountered a problem and can't proceed..Just my luck eh?
have you removed java from remove progs try it. restart and try to load java up again
Excellent advice from Telboy1938. I'll just add that it probably won't appear as 'Java' under 'Add/Remove Programs'. It will probably show as 'JS2E Runtime Environment'.

Also, I can't see why System Restore shouldn't work. It's specific purpose is to undo ill-advised changes to the registry.

The registry file is probably the most important file on your PC.

ALWAYS take a backup of the registry before making manual changes to it.

NEVER delete anything manually from the Registry unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing.

Deleting entires from your registry (even ones that are not neeeded) will make minimal changes to the speed of your PC

Thank you all you guys out there....I had tried to repair the registry by using system restore but had only gone back one week...I have now gone back one month and all seems to be resolved...I must now find out how to back up the registry to a disc or pen-drive.
Thanks again...Telboy
