The specs look excellent. My five year old Medion desktop is still going strong, never a moments problems with it.

Print the specs off, and see how it compares to laptops of a similar price at ebuyer, pcworld and so on. All information available on line, so should be easy.

I knew dame ethel would come through for me LOL
Its pointless me compairing it to other spec models because i`m a total numpty when it comes to anythin computer related.
So it seems like a good buy then?
PS feel free to compare it to ther similar laptops and let me know the outcome :0 ;)
Teash - I'll have a look tonight or tomorrow and get back to you.

Unless some other kind soul beats me to it. :)

Cheers Ethel, i`m not bone idle its just the numbers and spec just goes right over my head ;)
I have had a good look at the Medion, and the only detail I can't find is the battery life - it may be very poor. If this is not important to you then it doesn't matter.

The specs are good, as I said before and I have had a look at what else is available for around that sort of money and found this Sony Vaio which I think has to be worth the extra 50:

Hope I've helped and not confused you. :)

Many thanks for taking the trouble to have a search for me Ethel, your a star.
Saw the Sony one advertised on tv today, I know the medion one has a built in webcam but thats neither here nor there to me because i`ve never had the need to have one.
Might pop into pc world tomorrow and have a look at one.

Many thanks
teash - will you let me know how you get on and what you decide on.

I am sure the sony will have a built in webcam - blerdy things. But at least you can swivel the sony one out of the way so you can't accidentally have it on.

Don't droool too much over the laptops. :)
I''ve had a medion (brilliant spec for the price) for two years now with absolutely no problems whatsoever. Battery life on this laptop is about 2 hours. I got it in Staples on line and saved a fortune compared to PC World prices !
I have a medion desktop , brilliant spec for the price.and have never had a problem. I would opt for Aldi every time because they always offer three year guarantee.I imagine this would be well over 100 at PC World.

only thing about the Sony is its poor graphics card - not for games or multimedia - only classed as 'business graphics'.

Aldi used to do this model with Nvidia graphics

but the present offer only has Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
128MB shared memory based on PCI-Express technology.

Might be better with the Sony Vaio - but have a look at Acer, Fujitsu-Siemens and even Dell if they have offers on.

A friend of mine has an Aldi Desktop and is very pleased with it.
