Everytime i put a disc of any sort into my pc it wont read it. Very occassionally it does but more often than not it won't. It makes a clicking noise as if its trying to "spin" the disc and read it but nothing happens and it tells me there is no dics in the drive

Can anyone help please?!?!?

Are you putting the right type of disk in the drive?

Are you trying to play dvds in a cd player, for instance?

CD drives and DVD drives have a high failure rate. It sounds like your drive has 'had it'. A replacement is quite cheap and incredibly easy to fit yourself. (I normally avoid dealing with the inside of my PC but installing a new CD or DVD drive is no harder than changing a 13A plug).

thank you both

Ethel - ive tried a few music cds in there (never had a problem with them in the past) and it wont read any of them. Last couple of days ive been trying to transfer my photos onto discs and it goes through the motions of copying them to disc then says there was an error, the disc maybe damaged and unable to use it again.

Thank you chris - i didnt realise that. Im not the most technical minded of folk, lol. Hope i can get it sorted then. I can stand to lose most things but i dont want to lose my photos! lol
