Hi can anyone answer for me. I have a camera and wanted to put photos onto lap top. Lap top only got usb ports. Did not really want to do the whole load software and use cable thing as it is attatched to pc at back. Also wanted option of putting sisters photos straight into file etc. Can you get a gadget that you put your card into and plug into usb inlap top. My sister got lap top with sd card slot in side. Wish I did!!! TIA

Even if you hadn't got the laptop, I'd still tell you that loading pictures to your PC, from the camera with it's specialist software, is utter madness! It's far, far simpler to buy a USB card reader. You simply plug the card reader into a USB socket on your PC or laptop, and it will be recognised as an extra drive, from which you can simply 'drag & drop' your files to wherever you want them on your computer.

The good news is that USB card readers are really cheap. You can get them for less than a fiver from eBuyer:

You can also pick them up cheaply at loads of High Street stores. (Try Tesco Extra or larger branches of Asda).

Oh lovely. The description not too good but do I understand you put card in gadget, put gadget into usb and it brings photos up. I did this with a card in my photosmart printer for the first time yesterday and I agree it was dead easy. It just came up as in drive E.
Yes, Winny - you put your card in the slot. Very quick - my laptop has one built in, but I bought a card reader for my desktop.

Much quicker and easier than hooking the camera to the pc, as Buenchico says.
