Why does my laptop keep resetting itself ??

Hiya, lately whenever i swtich my laptop off it looses all the settings. For example if the background is set to Azul then i switch off, when it comes back on its all black. I have also downloaded share360 and this also gets lost when i switch off. I have done a virus checker and nothings been found. Any ideas ?
