I have an lcd tv that is connected to the 2nd socket on my gfx card which I use to watch movies from my pc.When I switch to pc mode on the tv the desktop image shown is a continuation from the right-hand side of my pc monitor ie if i move my mouse pointer off the right-hand side of my monitor screen it will appear on the left-hand side of my tv screen.when i watch movies,I have to drag media player from the monitor to the tv screen.this is not that big a deal but ideally what i want is my tv and monitor to show the same image.I have tried all available dual screen options on my pc but to no avail.my pc desktop display settings are at 1024x768 and my tv is capable of displaying 1366x768 so this should work.when i try to use some of the available DS options it resizes everything and it becomes too small to read on my monitor.

Am i missing something or is there no way to do simultaneously display on 2 screens ?

I think that you must have a tick in the box which says 'extend my desktop to second monitor'.
Go to Control Panel>Display>Settings and see if that is the case. By default you should get the same image on both screens if the box is not ticked.
There's normally a "clone" option in the settings that shows the same on both screens.

I can untick it for my 2nd display but it is greyed out for the main one but when I try to switch to clone the tv doesnt like it and my pc monitor changes its resolution.i reject these settings and the option gets re-ticked again !
