I am not sure of the answer, but I believe that Microsoft have made it very difficult for anybody to access the core of Vista (Windows internals).

This is obviously to stop people writing viruses and other programs that corrupt the internals of Windows.

But is also stops security companies being able to access the core of Windows to be able to do their job.

That could be one reason.
Another reason could be that yet again Microsoft have tried to grab a piece of the software marketplace by trying to get people to use THEIR firewall and anti-virus rather than anyone elses.

Ever since Windows began people have written add-on software for Windows and built up a nice business.

But then Microsoft include that function within Windows and put the companhy out of business almost overnight.

Although we all use MS products they have used many underhand practicies to get where they are.

Did you know, for example, that when Windows was first starting to take off and PC companies were desperate to pre-install it on their PCs Microsoft charged them so much per PC to install Windows.

But the PC company had to pay that EVEN IF THE PC THEY SOLD DID NOT HAVE WINDOWS ON IT.

So basically MS charged them so much for every PC that they sold, even ones without Windows on them.

PC companies had to agree or Microsoft would not sell them Windows at all.

This is just one example of their suspect practices.
What about Here Not free though.
