Vw Polo ''01 , engine warning light

My vw polo is driving me mad, The engine warning light keeps coming on, at different times. My mechanic friend using one of those diagnostic thingies to read the error code, makes a note of it then resets it. Different errors every time !
When it initially started the lamda sensor was changed . All ok for a little while but here we go again.
Last time the EPC light also came on. Help please...

Can't help I'm afraid but you're not alone! My wife's does exactly the same thing. I paid �75 for a 'software upgrade' that did nothing.

VW said not to worry, if it drives alright, ignore it?!?!
