Approximately 5 seconds after I "clear" my screen saver (by moving the mouse) and view my screen, it goes black (as if it has switched off) for about 3 seconds and then comes back on!

Why?

It might be because your screen saver is using opengl or Direct 3d and switching between resolutions.. To try and fix this you could try upgrading your DirectX or getting the updated drivers for your graphics card.

Or..

Your monitor might be taking a while to switch between resolutions.

All in all this does not sound like anything to worry about.

Thanks wiggal - I didn't understand the first bit of your answer. It might not be anything to worry about, but it's only just started doing it and it's very annoying.
