Ripping from Cd via pc to MP3 player. This shouldn't be difficult should it?

Until today I considered myself fairly "handy" with computers - it's all gone wrong:

I'm trying to get some of my cd's onto my mp3 player (iriver H340). I'm managing to "rip" the tracks using windows media player, and am managing to access the folder they are being placed into. However, when I copy / cut this folder to the mp3player, it shows up all the tracks but does not play them - just scrolls through the titles.
(It works fine with folders of tracks I've downloaded from the net).

I don't think it's a copyright problem.

As cr*p as sonicstage was, at least it allowd me to copy my own discs, then play them.

I can't seem to find any alternative with winamp.

Anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated if you do.
Cheers.

Did you rip them in the right format - mp3 or whichever format your iriver uses?

yeah, i believe so.
Hmmm.... Windows Media player defaults to ripping to WMA, did you change it to MP3?
Failing that, i use CDEX http://www.download.com/CDex/3000-2140_4-10226 370.html - its brilliant. You can rip to lots of formats, and it can also read a remote database to rename the track titles.
Post back if you need more help. PM.

Thank you both very much.
Seems I was loading the "directory" rather than the music files themselves. Doughnut!
Cheers again.
