can't open image from the OPEN WITH choice

Clicking on the windows folder from the start, explore, route. From the list of files that comes up comes up I select a picture image, be it bitmap, jpeg or whatever, but don't have the option of right clicking the file and selecting Adobe photo deluxe or mgi photosuite, both of which I have on my computer but not in the open with choices. If I left click the image it opens in windows pic/fax viewer, not what I want
I right click the image and get the option of opening it with Windows pic and fax viewer,paint, internet explorer, plus a selection of other programs. I then take the browse option and find photodeluxe or mgi photosuite but when I click on them to add to the open with list, nothing happens. How can I put them in the OPEN WITH list.?
