Epson 1200 Printer making a strange sound.........

I have recently sold an Epson 1200 A3 printer on ebay, the purchaser received it today and is not happy at all, she is complaining & I quote "there is a really loud sound of escaping gas from the printer when it is turned" (I am actually deaf but I wont be telling the buyer this as it would sound like an excuse)

The printer works well and prints to a good quality, but has anyone got any idea what on earth this hissing noise could be?

This comes into the 'Strange But True' category.....Apparently this is normal with this model of printer when it's in idle mode! There are several references to the noise, for example, here (Scroll down to 'Defects that Aren't').
Contact your buyer, and refer her to the above website.
