When I click on the icon to open my Internet Explorer, a box appears saying "Windows is searching for IEXPLORE.EXE To locate the file yourself, click browse"

I don't know where the file is situated, and haven't changed it in any way. Can anybody help?

The registry is probably corrupt. Run System Restore to (hopefully) fix it.

alternatively go to Start / run and type in iexplore.exe if that doesnt work, you may have to re-install IE
