my ex husband owes me back dated maintenance to the sum of 540.00, to be honest it has always been a struggle getting my maintenance which from when my son was 6months old to when he left shcool this year was 30.00 a week, the arrangement was never made through the courts we agreed we where adult enough to deal with this arrangement between ourselves. Will he pay it no he won't, i have tried speaking to him, sending him texts (i am known as phone pest 1), emails, he just ignores me, i am loathed to let him get away with this as it is money that i am entitled to, he has two girls and always says that his family comes first.

Which children are you claiming for? I cant work it out from your post. If you son has left school then the payments for him will stop. If the two girls are living with you then perhaps you should try the CSA - they do sometimes get it right.

sorry chitchat i did not explain myself properly, my son left school in July this year, i know i cannot receive maintenance now but this is maintenance that he has not paid me between january and july, the two girls that he has are with his 2nd wife.
You may find it difficult to get that money off him as you had a private arrangement. But to avoid it happening to the girls perhaps a court order or the CSA (no i dont work for them) are really your only options. I hope you get this sorted. There are too many people not paying for their children - especially when the other parent is dependant on that money for the children. I hope you get it sorted soon - good luck!
See if you can take him to a small claims court.
