Sony NV-U50 Sat Nav

Help I have recently bought the above sat nav equipment, but unable to work out the simulation of this device.

I put in the destination and press the route button but the simulation does not light up for me to show me the route before I actually do the journey.

Am I doing something wrong.

im not sure, i have the same system as you and it also does that. im about 5 mins from house before it kicks in. i dont really use it alot so ive never looked into it properly.
