Does it work in safe mode? (press F8 when booting up).
have you tried plugging a normal ps2 keyboard into a socket on the back of the laptop most laptops have this socket
I had a similar problem. What I eventually found was that my daughter had bashed the CTRL key and caused it to stick (although it seemed normal to the touch). Therefore every time I pressed a key it was if I was pressing CTRL and the key together - which made appear that the keyboard was non-responsive.
