I'm reasonably good at deleting all unnessessary files etc off my computer, but being a speed freak want everything to be faster. I notice I have up to 60 processes running on my computer sometimes and wonder is thee a way of finding out if all of these are necessary and getting rid of them -WITHOUT DESTROYING THE COMPUTER!

Thanks!

if you go to the control panel, goto the administrator section, and then to the services app. to see what you can safely disable, see here:

though if you're unsure about something, leave it as it is.
60 is alot, i only have 24
I have 45.

I like this programme:

It is easy to disable unnecessary programmes from automatically starting, and is perfectly safe because you can turn something back on if necessary.
it's always safe to disable them, as ethel says. just make sure you remember what you disabled!

I currently have 48 processes running.

Or, run msconfig, ( start, run msconfig), click on the services tab, click in the box that says hide all microsoft services, and then go through the remainder, disabling any you don't need - for example leave antivirus and antispyware enabled, and disable the rest.
