Windows Movie Maker is already on your PC and can do this.
Depends on what type of file you've saved it as. Try opening WMM and "import video".

I tried that this very morning and it can`t open the file which says it`s a power DVD file, or at least that`s what it wants to be opened with.

I can play it with media player, can I resave it as a WM file?

If your computer is telling you that it's a "power DVD file" : that just means that you've instructed your computer to use Power DVD as the default program for opening that type of file. It doesn't say anything about the file itself.

Which type of file is it anyway? In Windows Explorer, if you can't see the suffix (e.g. .mpeg, .wmv, .avi) then click Tools, Folder Options, then the View tab and at the bottom untick the "hide extensions for known file types"
