Hi all - I have XP pro installed, and on another partition Vista 5270 from MS. When i formatted previous version of Vista (5259 i think), i didnt run fixboot before installing 5270. Consequently, i now have 3 choices of operating systems to choose from when booting. My question is a) how do i remove the redundant entry on boot and b) how do i identify the useless selection? Thanks for your help. PM

There is a hidden, sytem, read only file in the root of C called boot.ini.

From a command prompt :

attrib -r -h -s boot.ini

Then you can edit it with notepad. If you're not sure which one to delete, paste the results here.

Also, remember to set boot.ini back :

attrib +h +s +r boot.ini
I forgot to mention, each line in the boot.ini file represents a boot option. It should be apparent which one you should delete.
