I stood at the bottom of it and said 'eff that' :-)
The crazy religious do it bare foot. Nutters!
there is a chapel on top of it so i think you'll be OK yes dogs can go up it.
Apparently dogs aren't allowed up it though.

"Strictly NO DOGS (with the exception of guide dogs) are allowed on the mountain. Treat mountain streams with respect as they provide the water supply to the local community. MURRISK Murrisk lies between the shores of Clew Bay to the north and in the shadow of Croagh Patrick to the south along the Wild Atlantic Way."

Lol I know!
I have also sat at the bottom in the carpark and said Eff that, where's the local?
But this time I would really like to try it!

According to trip advisor many have seen dogs climbing it - so looks like the hounds are coming up with us.
I have seen dogs climbing it which is why i said yes they can for sure go up it, it's a rather easy hike but on further research apparently they're not. If you keep then on a lead i doubt anyone will say anything as i said i've seen doggos on it.

How did I know you would have been there! lol
Why don't you try going to Strand Hill in Sligo instead. I can't remember the back ground story, tried Google but no luck, some sort of Irish queen buried on the top.

I was fuming when I got to the top. Just a pile of rocks!! Views were amazing though and no restrictions on dogs.

We are there for 2 weeks so will definitely be looking for different things to do with the hounds - whilst the place we have rented has a 100 acres and a loch to swim in -I think we need to explore with them too
Look...it is beautiful. Not too far from our place in Sligo (in Irish time)

When are you going?

Nice to see the usual consistency. Dogs banned, but somebody else ignored it so I will. Why do we bother with law and order when you can make up your own rules. So long as you are not Moslem, black or left-wing, but that goes without saying.
Queen Maeve (or Meabh) is buried in Sligo on the mountain, I climbed Croagh Patrick many times in my youth, usually on Reek Sunday, my sis still does it, dogs are not allowed as some pilgrims are not so well and they slip in dog poo (that's why I'm guessing dogs are not allowed) there's a difficult trail and an easy one, they're both tough going imo but worth the views once up there
Ducksie....I was so disappointed. It's just a pile of rocks!! And me, scared of heights :-) But, again, beautiful views, take a picnic.
Ah that's awful ummmm, it is all beautiful though, coming down Croagh Patrick we'd go on into Clew bay for picnics, ya need a good feed after that :)
It's worth it. Never been up Croagh Patrick though. Strandhill...there's farm land on the way up so you could stop for a breather and talk to a cow :-)

Ginge owns a mountain!!
Wow,lucky Ginge :)
My friend's family owned a mountain in Mullingar, they sold half of it to Joe Dolan (way back when...)
