Is there a certain amount of time that employers have to keep records of employment. My friend came to England from Romania in 2014 to work as a nurse in a care home. Last August she returned to Romania, she is now seeking work there, they want proof she was working as a nurse here. Unfortunately she did not renew her pin which expired last August. The company she worked for in England have said they no longer have her details and so can't send her a copy of her contract. Surely employers have to keep your details for a certain amount of time, the company I work for keep their records for seven years. Does anyone know?

Pixie I work for a domiciliary care company, albeit in the office, but we have to keep our stuff for seven years also.
