Canon Pixma 2450 Printer

Hi, I have bought a canon 2450 pixma printer. When i select A4 glossy paper i get a code 4102. It states wrong media. My solution was to load photo glossy paper, then set the printer to A4 Plain paper and document, click print. This works on this setting, but not the glossy setting, why? If i choose the setting it states in the manual { 4"x6" 10x15cm} this works, but i need A4, how do i tell the printer i want A4 and not regular sized photo paper? I have OS windows 10.
