I'd go for a Samsung phone if it was me, maybe a clamshell one like the E700, its nice and small with a great screen, okish camera and is quite old now so you should be able to pick one up cheap.

My last phone was a Nokia and it was bloody awful, could not wait to get rid of it and go back to a Samsung (E720 - great phone) - best of all they seem to be pretty unbreakable, the amount of times i've dropped it with no damage is incredible.

Although an e700 is a good phone, picking one up on ebay will mean its out of warranty so will cost to get repaired and also the batteries on samsungs are a bit iffy sometimes.

As good as ebay is, check out the carphone warehouse as you can pickup a motorola v220 for around $50 and it will have a 12m warranty. Also CPW have some shops called clearance stores that sell 14 day returns (not faulty) as there are sometimes 14 days to change your mind on some deals so CPW rather than lose all the value of the phone, sell them repacked and with a full 12m warranty for up to 30% off normal price!

Small, easy-to-use camera phone with colour screen, the Sagem MYV5.5. I have the MYX6 but it's from the same range and I've found them to be very good phones. It's 49.99 brand new from the bigger Boots stores (yes, I work for them, haha, but there's no harm sharing a good offer) and it's on Vodafone pay as you go. Saves you the hassle of ebay if you want a new phone.
