Direct 3D Video Card

Having just upgraded my travel asus netbook from XP Pro to Windows 7 I find that I have no "Direct 3D Video Card". Having gone on-line I fnd that to get the necessary the cost is $40. I'm sure that some of you guys out there will know of a cheaper way to obtain my requirements. After all, I did not ask Microsoft to stop assisting XP Prof users. Thanks in advance for any help. Tel
