Erratic Light On My Broadband Box.?

odd question i know, but from the four lights on the front of my orange broadband box i know what they all do however the one which shows "data downloading" has been flashing rapidly and persistently for 3 days now and i dont know why.
i have no problems with my connection or getting constant broadband. anyone got any ideas.? thanks. ian
